We have one foot in Värmland and the other in Stockholm. The county looks different from the capital when it comes to AI, and mostly that is an advantage: fewer consultants selling strategies, more companies with a concrete problem you can point at.
Paper Province, the forest-industry cluster based in Karlstad, has more than a hundred member companies along the whole value chain, from the mills to firms in maintenance, engineering and transport. In companies like these, twenty years of service reports, drawings and deviation reports often sit in folders where only a couple of people can find what they are looking for. That becomes obvious the day one of them leaves.
You can build an assistant that answers questions from exactly those documents and says where in the material the answer is. Nothing magical. Technically it resembles a chatbot for an online shop, except the files are duller and the answer has to be right far more often, because someone may set up a machine based on it.
In June 2026 Region Värmland granted IUC Värmland just over SEK 3.3 million for a project to strengthen small and medium-sized industrial companies, partly through digitalisation and AI. If you are an industrial company in the county, it is worth asking IUC what the project can offer you before you bring in a consultant. Sometimes that is enough.
The region also has an innovation grant covering half of approved costs, up to SEK 200,000, for companies with up to 249 employees. It applies to developing a product, process or service that is new to the market. Whether an AI feature in your own product qualifies is for the region to decide, not us; an ordinary customer-service bot will probably struggle. Most important of all: the application must be in before the work is ordered or started. If you want to apply, do it before we sign anything. We will plan around it.
Tourism has its own kind of peak. Timber rafting on the Klarälven, cabins in Fryksdalen, campsites around Lake Vänern: the questions arrive in German, Dutch and Norwegian, often late in the evening, and are largely about check-in, dogs, canoe hire and what to do when it rains. A bot that answers from your own information and leaves the hard ones for a person the next morning can take real weight off during high season. Whether it pays off depends on how many questions you actually get, so we work that out beforehand, with your numbers.
Near the border, in Charlottenberg and Töcksfors, many of the shoppers are Norwegian. Then the Norwegian has to actually work. Most of what we build handles the language, but we test it with questions Norwegians really write and with the Norwegian words for the goods.
The same prices as in the rest of the country: Starter from SEK 9,900 a month, Professional SEK 24,900. Larger assignments get a written quote. The first conversation costs nothing.
Most assignments can be done remotely after a first meeting. If it is a factory setting where we need to see how the work is done on the floor, we go there, whether that is Hagfors or Säffle.
